Business Analyst
Job Summary:
A Fincentric Business Analyst is a primary holder of the knowledge and skills in banking that allow Fincentric to conduct business with financial services customers and prospects. A Business Analyst has a set of baseline skills and competencies, which allows him/her to function as a project business analyst. The Business Analyst also performs one or more closely related specialty job functions and may be called upon to perform any of them from time to time. These functions include: project leadership, customer support analysis, software quality assurance, training and consulting and sales support.
Core Duties & Responsibilities – Project Business Analysis include but are not limited to the following::
- Conduct analytical tasks relating to any part of the project life cycle
- Gather and document customer requirements
- Prepare functional design specifications for new and changed software functions
- Participate in assuring adherence of the resulting software with the specifications
- Demonstrate knowledge of Wealthview and related system functionality to support Fincentric and customer staff
- Analyze and consult on operational procedures
- Analyze, document and consult on business processes and best practices using Wealthview and related products
Specialty Job Functions include but are not limited to the following:
Project Leadership
- Participate in definition of scope
- Design project plans for small projects or sub-projects
- Oversee the effective conduct of related project tasks
- Liaise with customer managers and manage expectations appropriately
- Report status of projects and take actions to ensure completion of scope within time and budget constraints
Customer Support Analysis
- Set up Fincentric products, reproduce reported issues, provide solutions, document and develop workarounds to reported Fincentric product issues;
- Develop comprehensive functional and technical design documents for product and customer enhancements;
- Perform testing on enhancements, patches or new release builds
- Create content and distribute customer bulletins, advisories & regulatory requirements as needed
Software Quality Assurance
- Create test plans to assure the software quality based on functional specifications
- Prepare test scenarios, scripts, database content and anticipated outcomes
- Oversee the execution of testing by software testers
- Conduct software testing as required
- Perform both new functionality and regression tests; identify, analyze and report issues for follow-up.
- Prepare documentation as required, e.g. user manual, help files, installation guide, etc
Training and Consulting
- Applies business knowledge to advise on effective use of Wealthview and related business processes
- Assesses trainees and other users in their banking software use skills
- Prepares courseware for scheduled or ad hoc training
- Delivers training courses to internal and external audiences
- Adapts training to suit specific needs of customers
Sales Support
- Reviews requests for information and requests for proposal, and prepares material in response
- Analyzes prospective customer needs and determines detailed responses
- Analyzes prospect needs and participates in the set-up of data, scripts and demonstration
- Demonstrates Wealthview banking system to potential clients
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Business Analysts must have most of the following:
- Knowledge of the banking industry, especially delivery of banking products and services
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple issues and deliverables simultaneously;
- Thorough knowledge of Fincentric products
- Self motivated, independent, innovative and adaptable
- Ability to build customer relationships and to understand customers’ banking business
- A passion for banking systems technology, the will to stay abreast of the industry
- Knowledge and experience with the project and software development life cycle
- Knowledge of QA test methodologies and practices
- Experience with help desk or customer service functions
Credentials & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Business or related subject, or better than equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Business Analyst in a banking or similar customer oriented industry
- OR
- Minimum 5 years experience in retail or commercial banking, incorporating several areas of banking products and services or administration functions
Special Requirements:
- Ability to travel to a client’s site within Fincentric’s Travel Policy Guidelines
