Product Analyst

Job Summary
The Product Analyst supports the Canadian Banking team and has a detailed understanding of the requirements included in any new release. The Product Analyst has overall responsibility for generating the requirements to be addressed in a release. The Product Analyst is a key contributor in release definition, creation of collateral, and customer support activities.
The Product Analyst is a creative thinker who can clearly articulate product requirements, collaborate with the development team on the designs for the requirements, manage multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously and balance the needs of the various parties that rely on inputs and direction from Product Management.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Release Definition and Management
- Administer inventory of development candidates (i.e. futures list)
- Establish and maintain relationships with customers to facilitate identification of product opportunities and monitor customer satisfaction with product
- Conduct ongoing analysis and review of existing product features with the objective of improving existing product features to enhance the product’s marketability and increase customer satisfaction
- Participate in change control board meetings for product releases
Release Content
- Gather product requirements from all sources and refine to represent overall market needs where necessary
- Create Product Requirement Documents & DFS
- Ensure final designs for new features meet both customer and market needs
- Work with the Product Release Manager and the other team members to establish timelines, dependencies and Product Management resources required for product releases
Collateral
- Provide input and updates to the Product Guide
Marketing
- Assist with research on market trends and directions as well as competitor capabilities and positioning
- Attend tradeshows and seminars in support of above
Communication
- Publish Product Updates describing new developments (What’s New Document)
- Communicate internally any relevant developments concerning our market, industry and competitors.
- Coordinate user groups, client feedback programs, and internal product surveys.
- Respond to product questions concerning existing, new and planned functionality
- Provide new product functionality demonstrations to customers and prospects
- Participate in Technical User Group meetings
Regulatory Support
- Represent Product Management at relevant Regulatory meetings if required
- Create requirements for changed or new regulatory issues relevant to the product
Other duties, responsibilities, projects, etc. as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required
- Strong analytical, organizational and administrative skills with particular attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, independent, innovative, decisive.
- Adapts quickly to changes in environment and strategies.
- Strong decision-making skills required to balance internal deliverables and external resource requests
Credentials & Experience:
- 5 years minimum experience in retail or commercial banking with practical experience in several areas of banking products and services and/or back office administration.
- 3 years experience with managing customer relationships in financial services
- Experience in the financial services industry either working within a financial institution or for a financial services software supplier
- Experience in the area of project development and financial software implementation is a definite asset.
- Experience in customer services or information technology is a definite asset
- Experience in developing programmer-ready application designs using standard methodologies is an asset
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications for information management and presentation purposes
- Undergraduate degree in Business or Technical related area is preferred
